Amplify Mobile Signal with Stella Doradus

Thinking of installing a mobile signal repeater but concerned about potential health risks? You’re not alone—but the good news is, mobile signal repeaters are completely safe.

At Stella Doradus, all our repeaters are rigorously tested and fully compliant with strict EU Health & Safety regulations, similar to those applied to common household devices like Wi-Fi routers.

When people hear the word “radiation,” alarm bells often ring—but it’s important to understand there are two types:

  • Ionising radiation – the harmful kind (e.g. X-rays)
  • Non-ionising radiation – harmless and present all around us

Mobile signal repeaters fall into the non-ionising category, alongside everyday items like remote controls, electric lights, and radio/TV signals. These are all safe and part of our daily lives.

It’s interesting to note that the power output from an internal antenna is 100 times lower than that of a typical mobile phone.

Output power of a repeater is 10mW.

Output power of a mobile phone is 200mW.

Moreover, radiation levels decrease rapidly with distance, following the inverse square law. This means that at 4 metres away, the radiation is 16 times lower than at 1 metre.  Consider the situation where the antenna of a mobile signal repeater is 3m away, and a mobile phone is right next to your body. In this case, the radiation from the repeater is 900 times less than that of a mobile phone.

In other words, the farther you are from the source, the less exposure you have—and the drop-off is exponential, not linear. This principle applies to all non-ionising radiation sources, including mobile phones and signal repeaters.

Here’s something surprising—mobile phones emit more radiation when the signal is weak. When struggling to connect, your phone increases its transmission power, meaning more radiation is emitted.

By installing a mobile signal repeater, you boost the mobile signal indoors, providing strong, stable coverage throughout the building. As a result:

  • Phones connect quickly and stay connected
  • Transmission power is reduced
  • Radiation levels from mobile devices drop
