1) Distance from the tower
If you are in a vehicle and have driven further from the tower or if you have moved to a location that puts you out of signal reach, then you are likely to experience dropped mobile calls and poor mobile phone reception. The solution is to purchase a repeater which helps pick up your weak far away signal and boost it.
2) Trees(especially in summer with the leaves), hills.
Trees can be a barrier to a good signal especially in summer because of leaves. Trimming down the trees is one solution, but this can be costly and permission is usually required first. The most viable option is a repeater which amplifies your weak indoor mobile phone signal and works well throughout the year. Also if you have a hill as a barrier, then it’s likely that a repeater is the best option.

Mobile phone congestion is a problem mainly in cities and the obvious reason is the high number of people using the same tower. A repeater will search several mobile towers and if the nearest one is congested and an operator will push your phone to the next tower which is less congested.
