Cellular repeater radiation is truly tiny!
This is a question that is often asked and the short answer is that a repeater outputs 50 – 100 times less power than a mobile phone. The amplifiers used in StellaDoradus repeaters are the same that are used in mobile phones. However, we do not turn it up to the maximum, so the repeater actually emits far less radiation than a mobile phone. A mobile phone uses 500mW – 1000mW of power and the repeater uses 10mW of power – typically 50-100 times less than a mobile phone. The power output from the indoor antenna reduces dramatically as you move away from the indoor antenna. So for example if you are touching the indoor antenna 10mW is emitted. This is 50 times less than a mobile phone held up to your ear. If you move 1 meter away, this is reduced to 3.1mW.
Cellular repeater radiation is reduced further by automatic standby mode.
The Stella Doradus Repeaters also have a unique function where they are on stand-by mode until you make a phone call. For the duration of the phone call, the repeater outputs 10mW of power 0.8 seconds after the phone call is finished, the repeater goes on stand by again. This is not noticeable by the user but it means that most of the time, the repeater is not emitting power at all.
What about cellular repeater radiation by mobile transmission towers?
You would receive more radiation in an hour lying on the beach in the sun then if you were to hug one of these cell towers for a year.. This is how tiny the cellular repeater radiation is off these towers. People have a tendency to fear things they either cannot see or cannot understand. And in the case of radio frequency, both can often be the case. It’s all a question of power, and in the case of these cell towers, the power is tiny.
