Trinity College Dublin (TCD), established over four hundred and thirty years ago, holds the distinction of being Ireland’s oldest university. TCD’s campus undergoes continual expansion to provide suitable accommodations for its substantial student body and faculty members. Notably, all students enrolled at TCD enjoy access to the Trinity Sports Centre, a contemporary, five-story edifice situated at the core of the campus, offering ample space and state-of-the-art facilities.

Trinity College takes great pride in its professional sports teams, which compete at the highest level. Consequently, the sports hall is utilised frequently by teams engaged in daily training. To ensure the effective management of the Sports Centre, it was imperative that mobile phone communications, encompassing both calls and data transmission, functioned as anticipated by athletes and staff within the sports hall.

The contemporary construction materials employed in the sports hall, including triple-glazed windows, steel, and concrete, served as a barrier, effectively blocking the ingress of mobile signals into the facility.

The management contacted Novatel, a trusted Stella Doradus installer, to professionally assess and solve their mobile signal coverage problem.

Following a comprehensive mobile signal survey, Novatel determined that the installation of a Stella Doradus iR6-T iRepeater would be the most suitable solution due to the following factors:

  1. The iRepeater amplifies all mobile operators for 5G, 4G, 3G and 2G, ensuring clear calls and super-fast data for all staff and visitors.
  2. There is no limit to the number of simultaneous users. So all the athletes can stay connected and enjoy strong mobile signal.
  3. The iR6-T iRepeater can be remotely monitored and controlled. After the installation,  alerts for potential issues are sent automatically to an installer or a Stella engineer.

The administration at Trinity College expressed great satisfaction with the installation, noting that it has significantly enhanced connectivity on campus. This upgrade has ensured that both students and staff enjoy uninterrupted access to the mobile signal network, facilitating seamless communication and enabling a more productive learning and training environment.
