Our company, which is based in the scenic forests of Portlaw, Waterford, Ireland, is growing rapidly and is searching for experienced candidates for the position of a Digital Signal Processing Engineer.

  • 10 years Software Defined Radios (SDRs)
  • Ability to develop DSP algorithms in software and transition to fielded solutions
  • Strong knowledge of developing and executing test plans to verify and validate a system’s performance
  • Programming skills in MATLAB is must
  • Self driven – ability to work on own initiative.
  • Solid understanding of wireless communication systems fundamentals
  • Self-motivated and proactive to maintain momentum and progress
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing architectures, techniques, and methodologies within the Mobile cellular domain
  • Experience with GSM/4G/5G cellular technologies
  • Programming experience in C, Verilog and or VHDL
  • Full understanding of SOC digital design methodology and tools.
  • Verilog RTL design and gate level verification experience.
  • Knowledge of circuits such as Phase Locked Loops, Tx and Rx Equalizers, ADC’s etc. Familiar with concepts of Jitter, Noise, and other non-idealities in circuits
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills including familiarity with Windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Must be familiar with Source Code Version Control tools (GIT)
  • Must be familiar with Bug/Issue Tracking tools.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, keeping team members and management informed of progress and issues

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

The candidate must have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Telecommunication, Computer Science, Software or equivalent engineering degree.

The required experience and skills are:

  • Expertise in developing signal processing algorithms for communication systems in Python, C/C++ or Matlab using both floating point and fixed-point design techniques.
  • Experience in migrating modeled algorithms to implementations in FPGAs or SDR frameworks.
  • Understanding of RF concepts such as AGC, noise figure, power amplifiers, phase noise, PLL, oscillators/mixers.

It will be also desirable the following qualifications and skills:

  • Expertise with Software-Defined Radios (SDR) frameworks such as GNU Radio.
  • Experience with Xilinx Zynq or Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ series FPGAs, Analog Devices AD9361, and other common RF chipsets.
  • Some experience with Python or other scripting languages is desirable.
  • Excellent English language skills.

The applicant must have good communication skills and must be able to work autonomously in an effective manner, while cooperating in a potentially international and culturally diverse team.

Moreover, the applicant must have good analytical, organizational, and reporting skills; together with a proactive attitude to solve problems individually and an interest in technology development.
